I’m Iulia, a 27-year-old software engineer and aspiring botanical illustrator from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. When I’m not crafting code or sketching plants, you’ll find me exploring the Carpathian Mountains with my rescue dog, Luna.
My journey with technology began in my grandfather’s old radio repair shop, where I first learned to tinker with electronics. That early fascination led me to study Computer Science at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, where I discovered my love for problem-solving and creative coding.
By day, I work as a full-stack developer at a renewable energy startup, where I help build systems that make solar power more accessible to rural communities. By night, I combine my passion for art and technology by creating digital botanical illustrations and developing an app that helps people identify local plant species.
Some random facts about me:
- I collect vintage Romanian postcards
- I can speak four languages (Romanian, English, Hungarian, and Python 😉)
- I make my own herbal teas from plants I grow on my balcony
- I once hiked the entire Transylvanian Alps in three weeks
When I’m not coding or drawing, I run a small coding workshop for young girls in my community, teaching them that technology and creativity go hand in hand. I believe in the power of combining different passions – whether that’s art and programming, nature and technology, or tradition and innovation.
Current Projects:
- Developing “Flora Finder” – an AI-powered plant identification app
- Creating a series of illustrated guides to Eastern European wildflowers
- Building a smart irrigation system for my ever-growing balcony garden
